To The Capable, Present and Connection-Based Businesswoman

If you're a capable, present and connection-based gentle businesswoman, you might be stuck in an exhausting cycle.

For a woman who is capable in her field, the current-day standard of masculine-energy led business practices tells her to lean into her capability. To do more, be more and make more... and it's tempting because yes, she is capable of doing just that. Her capability is what has gotten her to her current position after all.

But the businesswoman who is also present and who enjoys growing a business or position centered on intentional connection -- who finds the constant, quick, extraction-based connections, striving for future success, and the regular routine of lusting after the greener grass on social media simply exhausting -- is aware of her desire to live in the now, and to not give in to the idea that just because she's capable doesn't mean she has to push hard and fast to get ahead.

Yet, she feels she's the only one out there who wants to break the paradigm of today's business practices. Her way of thinking that there must be a softer, gentler way of doing business must only be wishful, and the natural response is to think that there is something wrong with her for not being able to do business the way the "rest of the world does". Which leads to an exhausting cycle of unconsciously trying to “fix” herself and way of thinking. She forgets her want to just be present and connected, and falls back into posting more, speed networking, trying new sales and marketing tactics, and staying just a little later at work every day -- leaving less and less time to put towards her loved ones.

And it makes sense that she'd feel this way. What seems like most of the world believes that faster is better. Write down your 3-, 5- and 10-year goals, and do something every day that gets you closer to those goals. Reach out to 8 potential prospects per day. Go to every networking event you can, and for cryin' out loud, don't forget to bring your business cards!

But what if I told you that there are plenty more who wish to do business in a gentler, slower way (Hi, I'm Kelsey, and I'm one of them!)? What if I told you your way of thinking is not wishful, but rather a very normal, natural desire coming from a feminine soul? What if I told you that you can be overly-capable, present and connected in your business practices, and be successful? Because you most certainly can. And when you start to gently dismantle the paradigm of today's "must"'s in business, you'll start to feel safe to do business in the way that’s actually meant for you. A way that leaves you feeling refreshed, filled and enlivened at the end of the day.

Here's to wishful thinking that isn't so wishful 🥂.

xx Kelsey
