Our Best Selling Gift Box: The Story Behind The Design

Our Best Selling Gift Box: The Story Behind The Design

I'm so happy to say that our best selling gift box is the Prayer & Peace box. I say "I'm so happy" because Prayer & Peace has been one of my most intentional gift designs so far, it's Christ-centered, and, still to this day, is my favorite gift aesthetic. To see it being given so frequently and with such joy for a variety of occasions is so beautiful. When I first created this gift design, I had envisioned it would be given for birthdays or as a just-because to a friend. But since it's release in November 2022, it has been given for graduations, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, new-mom-congrats, employee welcomes, and client onboardings. It's inspiring to see that so many people desire to give the gift of prayer & peace to those who matter most in their lives.

So, what's the story behind the design?

I personally keep a prayer journal, and know how sacred, soul-balancing, and serene that journaling time is for me. I took this piece of my life, and decided it would be a beautiful thing to offer an intentionally designed prayer journal themed gift box for my customers to gift to those closest to their hearts.

Before I dive into the items within a gift, I set a scene in my mind that plays out what it would look like for this gift to be used. The Prayer & Peace gift box scene looked a little something like this:

A Daughter of the King, sitting at her desk; heart bowed in prayer. Her prayer journal is open, and a pen is in hand; a candle is lit to bring some peace to the chaos around her. After praying for what's at the forefront of her mind, she finds inspiration from a prayer card for other things to pray or give thanks for. Then, she looks up to see her favorite floral sticker, maybe placed on her water bottle or laptop; an hourly reminder that if God cares for the wildflowers, how much more must He care for her. And she smiles. She is loved. She is at peace.

The Prayer & Peace gift, packaged in our signature wooden keepsake box, holds a 200-page leatherette prayer journal, a modern slim gold pen, an "I Am Blessed" 4oz candle, a vial of white-tipped matches, 21 prayer prompt & bible verse cards, and a 4" floral arch sticker.

The Prayer Journal (from The Daily Grace Co.)

I wanted to be sure the prayer journal wasn't too heavily prompted, leaving the journalist writing only things they thought they should write. I also wanted to be sure it wasn't too open-ended, where the journalist would sit questioning what to journal about. This prayer journal was exactly what I had hoped to find, and was a perfectly calming color as well (bonus!).

Prayer is powerful, and we have the privilege to come to the Lord with what is on our hearts at any time. This prayer journal helps your recipient understand how to incorporate prayer into her daily life, and it assists her in seeing the heart and hands of Christ more clearly in her day-to-day life.

The journal includes space for daily prayer requests, adoration (praise Him for who He is), confession (seek forgiveness and restoration), sanctification (ask Him to make you more like Him), praying for the requests and burdens on her heart, praying a specific verse or bible passage, and journaling her answered prayer requests.

The Modern Slim Gold Pen

For years I've carried these slim gold pens. They're perfect for being added to any of my Pre-Designed gifts, or our customers' designs on Build-A-Box, that include notepads, notebooks or journals. So, of course, I had to add this pen to the Prayer & Peace design, especially since it pulled out the gold foiling of the front of the journal so well!

The "I Am Blessed" 4oz Soy Candle (from Freedom Studios)

Freedom Studios released their "I Am" candle collection right as I was brainstorming what a prayer journal gift box might look like. When I saw the "I Am Blessed" candle, I knew it would be incredibly perfect for the scene I was setting through this gift.

The scent of this candle is vibrant notes of bamboo, coconut & green florals. Oh, how I wish you could smell this candle through your screen. Not too strong, not too weak, but just right (reminds me of my previous journal entry on Lagom).

It's made with soy blend wax and clean-burning cotton wicks, and has a burn time of 32 hours.

The Vial of White Tipped Matches

Same as the slim gold pen, anytime I have a gift design with a candle, I love adding in my vials of matches. They're just so cute, display nicely on a desk, table, or shelf, and the vial can easily be refilled.

The Prayer Cards (from The Daily Grace Co.)

When I first began designing this box, prayer cards were not in my "plan". I personally do not use prayer/promt cards of any kind, so didn't even know they existed! But when I found the oh-so-perfect prayer journal from The Daily Grace Co., I also found these Prayers for God's Will Verse Cards, and knew these would be the perfect addition. These cards were designed to encourage your recipient as they seek the Lord’s direction. The set includes 21 cards measuring 4" x 4" each. One side of each card contains a Scripture verse, and a prayer prompt is printed on the other side to point your recipient's heart toward God's will in all areas of life.

The 4" Floral Arch Sticker (from The Anastasia Co.)

Stickers have always gone over well with my customers, so when I saw that my friend Jillian at The Anastasia Co. had this simple floral arch sticker, that happened to match the color palette of the prayer cards and prayer journal, I knew it was the final piece needed to round out the timeless design of this meaningful gift.

"Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you." Luke 12:27-28

I hope you've enjoyed this deep-dive into the design of our best selling gift box. When I curate my gifts, I do so as an artist and as a designer (my previous career was as an interior designer, so I couldn't let that go!). Every piece has a purpose, and every gift has a vision behind it. I pray you find joy and deeper connection through giving this Wonderfully Made gift.

Happy Gifting,

xx Kelsey
